This was a fun surprise for him for Christmas, because these chocolates were fresh from the UK and tasted great.

Bassett's Allsorts Licorice, 5-Pound Bags (Pack of 4) Review

(More customer reviews)I couldn't believe my luck when I found these Bassetts licorice allsorts at Amazon. These are my favorite sweets. I grew up in England and would always buy 2 ounces of them whenever I got 3d. They arrived today, only took 4 days!! They are well packaged in 4 seperate bags. They are nice and fresh, and I cannot stop eating them. I feel like I have been deprived for years, but believe me I won't be deprived again now I know I can get them on Amazon. They are exactly as I remember them. What a terrific deal on these sweets, and no shipping charges either. I would highly recommend these to anyone who likes licorice. They are a treat.

The name, I believe, comes from the fact that it was originally intended for little girls who pretended to feed it to their dolls during tea parties and the like. It's way sugar heavy (well, naturally -- it's essentially nothing but sugar), but with the small pieces it's easy to stop after one or two. And you really can't beat that price.

Norfolk Manor Jelly Babies, 8-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 12) Review

(More customer reviews)Let's face it. Bassett's Jelly Babies are the original and the best. But this Jelly Babies copy, from Norfolk Manor, is enough to tide me over for a while. I recently visited the UK and became pretty well addicted to Bassett's Jelly Babies. But they aren't sold in the US because of some ingredient not approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. The Norfolk Manor version is also from the UK and importable. I was eating my last remaining Bassett's Jelly Baby and decided that I must have more, so these from Norfolk Manor showed up and I had all 12 8-ounce packs sent to me. They are not the same quality, a bit too sugary like the standard candies I am used to in the US. But they are still better than most other "sweets" I have tried, and I don't want to be too harsh on them because they are a decent imitation. I recommend them, but you candy enthusiasts and Doctor Who fans should get your hands on some Bassett's originals in your life at some point.

Fry's Turkish Delight chocolate bar Review

(More customer reviews)Although bearing only a fairly marginal resemblance to the sweet traditionally known as Turkish delight, these are pretty good. The inside is a semi-reasonable facsimile of traditional Turkish delight (although far softer and less chewey in texture) which is then coated in a very think outer layer of milk chocolate.
As chocolate bars go... uh... well, they're low-fat, I suppose! I think the innards are pure gelatin and sugar.
Do be aware that these come in a variety of packs containing different numbers of bars. At least as of the time of writing, these do not all work out at the same cost on a per bar basis. So it may well be worth your while doing your homework before deciding which deal is right for you.

I love these chocolate covered candied treats that at first taste like delicate flowers on your tongue and then you bite into the crispy shell and that sweet chocolate melts into your taste buds and you are thinking, "Does it get any better" and "I'll have TEN of those please!"
A yummy treat for the whole family but especially for us girls, after all chocolate is a girl's best friend, isn't it?

(More customer reviews)I have heard Fry's Chocolate Creams discussed on many, many occasions whenever my Brit husband and other Brit friends remininsced about the "sweeties" they enjoyed as children.
Whenever we went to the UK the time was so jampacked I found all of his and his friends other treats but not the Fry's. Don't feel too bad for them, returning from our last trip we had a suitcase packed full of nothing but British treats!
Amazingly, I was checking the British Shoppe (our favorite) fare last wkend and immediately ordered these for my husband's birthday this Tuesday, not knowing if they would arrive in time. They were in Saturday's post! I will divide them for birthday and save some for his Christmas Stocking.
He will be over the moon!!
UPDATED: 11/02/10 He loved the Fry's candy so much it had some with his breakfast coffee. After seeing the small package of candy, I relented and gave it all to him for his B-Day. He is one Happy Birthday boy!

(More customer reviews)A friend gave me my first Flake over 20 years ago. Her father had brought home a precious handful of them from a business trip to the UK. Boy, she must have really loved me to give me one of my very own!
Cadbury makes good chocolate, but what sets these apart is how they are made. Of course - they are flaky. They are so fragile, they will fall apart in your hand really easily. Because of this fragility, they also melt in your mouth very nicely.
One of the best (and I think this may be traditional) ways to indulge with a Flake is to stab it into a malt or milk shake and then let it fall apart. Yum!

(More customer reviews)"Bounty" bars consist of a soft, almost molten center of sweet coconut coated in an outer layer of milk chocolate. You can easily buy them "over the counter" here in Australia. But if that's not the case where you are, and you don't mind a diet rich in junk food, then yes, this is a candy bar worth going to the trouble of ordering over the internet.
Note that here on Amazon you can purchase bounty bars in boxes with varying numbers of bars inside, so it is worth your while to crunch the numbers and think about what package offers the best value for you. At the same time, it may not be entirely in the best interests of your health to have _too_ many of these things lying around at home all at once!

(More customer reviews)We tried these because of my daughters interest in all things Doctor Who , and as most fans of the show know, the Fourth Doctor always had them. Living in the states, you can't buy them here, so when I found them on Amazon, I jumped at getting them. We weren't disappointed, they are different from any jelly type candy we've eaten. They are a little grainy in texture but softer than any gum candy, and the flavors are natural. This is the only brand (Bassett's) we have tried, and they are supposed to be the best. The shipping is a bit pricey because they're imported, so if you order, order several bags while your at it.

Cadbury Crunchie 1.4oz Review

(More customer reviews)I'm British, and this is one of the most popular candy bars in the UK (along with Cadbury's Flake). This bar does not contain either rice or 'popping candy' as stated in the description. Crunchie bars are old-fashioned 'honeycomb toffee' otherwise known as 'cinder toffee' covered in creamy milk chocolate. Honeycomb toffee is basically a regular toffee to which a very small amount of vinegar and bicarbonate of soda is added, causing the toffee to puff up into an airy, crunchy, light toffee full of tiny holes. The tiny amount of vinegar and bicarbonate of soda added does not adversely affect the toffee taste.

Finally, last spring, during a trip to Epcot Center in Orlando, I found a shop that had Curly Wurly Bars. I bought 20 of them on the spot. Little did I know, that by sharing them with my 2 sons, ages 5 and 7, I had created another Curly Wurly addict. The supply dwindled mysteriously until they were completely gone in a few days. THAT's how good they are, chewy, chocolatey, and delightful, and definitely worth risking a mother's wrath for.
