Found this great product while driving thru Alabama this past summer...While some of the manufacturer's candy is sold in my local area, the lemon drops don't appear to be one of these items from the stores I've visited and so I ordered a bulk supply from Amazon. The bags make terrific surprise gifts or are delicious enough to simply hog to yourself!

The candy was fantastic. My sweet Italian grandmother lived in Pitttsburgh and came to visit us every year on Christmas day until Palm Sunday when she went home. She always came with a big box of italian goodies and tasting your torrone candy took me back to my childhood and having my grandma back again. I miss her so much. I will definitely be ordering more Torone candy.I am not a fan of chocalate and the different flavors of torrone plus having almonds in the candy scores a #1 with me and my husband.

I have now gone back 3 times and gave them as a present to others! Especially love the centers, you have to try to savor them so you get the sour center at the end!

This is one of my favorite French candies and I was pleased to find it on Amazon. The softness of the nougat and the crunchiness of the almonds make this a wonderful treat.

What could be simpler or tastier than this candy made from almonds, honey, pistachios, and egg whites?
These nougat bars are made by Chabert et Guillot, based in the town of Montelimar, which has been the capital of nougat making ever since the first almond trees were introduced into the Vivarais region in 1650.
These nougat bars are soft because they are made with beaten egg whites. Nougats, like calissons, are one of 13 traditional Christmas desserts in Provence.
The remaining 11 are:The "pompe a l'huile" (flat sweet bun made with olive oil), the 4 "beggars" (representing the different catholic orders who vowed of poverty: nuts and hazelnuts for Augustinians, dried figs for the Franciscans, almonds for the Carmelites and raisins for the Dominicans), apple, pear, "verdau" (green melon kept in the grain), black nougat, sorbes, and fresh grapes.
These nougat bars are imported from France.

Rarely can I say that a GF product tastes better than the gluten version. Thse cookies do, though. Melt in your mouth delicious, and just the right amount of lemon. I am confident tht if you gave these to gluten eaters, they would not be able to tell the difference.

Every year my Italian godmother gives me a box of these candies for Christmas and I have to work hard not to devour them within the day. Within the box, one third are lightly orange flavored torrone, one third vanilla, and one third mildly lemon flavored - all are excellent, soft nougat (that unfortunately leave you wanting another one!). Glad to know I can order them myself online, now, for the months in-between!

A great mixture of sweet and sour. These are not sour-balls, but rather a lemon-flavored hard candy that starts out sweet, and finishes slightly sour with a continuing hint of sweet. I love the way the taste changes a bit from beginning to end, leaving you ready to try another!

I've tried a number of different turkish delight brands, and this is one of the best. The candy is stickier and stretchier than most. The Bergamot was excellent. My batch included Lemon/Lime, which was also excellent. I wish I could buy a batch with just those two flavors. I would buy this again.

I've had this candy all my life at Christmas time in OH. I moved to CA and I couldn't find the La Florantine brand. I tried a couple of others and was really disappointed. They were good, but not as good, not the flavors you get with La Florentine, and the individual wrapping keeps the candy fresh for a long time.
Our local Italian store, DeVitis, which is so fantastic you can't believe the quality and prices, sells the nougat candy for $8 a box. Enjoy!

La Vie Les Citrons, Naturally Flavoured Lemon Drops - 5 tins Review

La Vie Les Citrons, Naturally Flavoured Lemon Drops - 5 tins
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

The title above refers not only to a semi-obscure Damon Runyan-based movie with Bob Hope (we ALL knew that), but to these classic lemon drops with a truly international pedigree:
Made in Spain; owned by the French(Cadbury France, located at 143 Boulevard Romain Rolland, Paris; imported by New Jersey's own "Euro-American Brands," Paramus, NJ 07652.
All the way from Paris to your local candy seller or movie theater (which is where I experieced my first taste of La Vie en Lemon). They were everything a lemon drop should be: A sugary entrance, developing into a deeply satisfying, soul-stirring essence of pure lemon. The mouth-watering joy of the lemon drop is seductive and addictive, and I am nearly certain that sucking on these golden gems made Kurosawa's "Savage Dogs" even more enjoyable.
They're hard candies. but not so hard that you couldn't cheat and bite into one, breaking it up into ten or so smaller candies, zig-zagging around your mouth like offshoots from a single magnificent fireworks explosion.
One 2-ounce tin lasted longer than the 2 hours or so of Kurosawa's brilliant detective drama, one of his first with Toshiro Mifune, who once again delivers a compelling performance. Although the packaging is a bit precious, there's nothing pretentious about the taste of Les Citrons, and as for value, these drops are the working man or woman's workhorse. They're far less expensive than other candy (to say nothing of popcorn), and their staying power is extraordinary.
Still, this vendor charges more than some others, and with the added shipping fee one may wish to purchase these at a local outlet (or occupying it until your lemon drop demands are met). If you're serious about your lemon drops, tt's Paris 1968 all over again.
Nutritional Information per Package (30 pieces; you could try to eat the suggested serving size of 3 drops, but I find this highly unlikely). 240 calories, no fat or sodium, 60 grams carbohydrates, 60 grams of sugar, no protein, and no trace of food allerges. Sugar, corn syrup, citric acid, natural flavor, and tumoric for color. THh lemon-decorated little tin adds a touch of Europe to any room, and is ideal for holding cuff links, tickets, keys, small, delicate make-up products, or quarters for the laundry. To paraphrase the great Margaret Dumont:
"Les Citrons, Toujours...Les Citrons!"
