Yes, they are, but these delicious treats take the concept to a new level. Laura's handmade marshmallows bear almost no resemblance to the dense, sticky, flavorless mass-produced lumps sold by the bag in grocery stores.
I'm not sure how I can adequately describe the experience of eating one of these divine creations. The texture - on a spectrum from store-bought marshmallows (0) to meringue (10), is a 7 - light, fluffy, but with a enough structure that they don't *quite* evaporate in your mouth.
The flavor was perfect - sweet without the cloying stickiness of a Sta-Puff, and just the right amount of the distinctive sweet-tartness of raspberries (and a couple of seeds as well - no artificial flavorings here).
My only regret is that after I'd devoured the last of these gems, I realized I'd neglected to save one for roasting - I guess I'll have to get some more!
