Roland Sliced Crystallized Ginger, 6-Pound Can Review

(More customer reviews)The first container I purchased was excellent quality so I purchased a second and then a third. Unlike the first and second the third was shipped by UPS and was mildly dented, but that is not a concern for *this* type of product. The third canister contained soggy-ish "dried" ginger with a disturbingly high frequency of dark spotting on the ginger slices. Before discovering the less than awesome quality of the third container I had already purchased two more containers. I am hoping five and six will be the fame FANTASTIC QUALITY of container one!

Be aware that the canisters reveal their origin: CHINA. This information was not on the amazon product page at time of purchase :( I hope my ginger is not seasoned with lead.UPDATE:
Canister five was severely damaged in shipping thanks to change for the worse in amazon shipping policy. The giner in canister five was exposed to air. As a food product I insisted on replacement. Eventually after shaming amazon via [...]they condescended to ship a replacement. The replacement canister was cosmetically damaged but air tight. Canister six was similarly dented but air tight. Canister six ginger had a higher "thread count".

Amazon seems to have a policy of not-bothering to include sufficient padding according to UPS/FedEx guidelines. Their bean counters hope the customer will absorb losses from goods damaged in shipping. I insist my new items arrive in new condition: padding on ALL SIX box surfaces.

All Melissa's bags are stapled to the cardboard. I dont like the idea of holes in the packaging. I hope they improve this in the future.

(More customer reviews)I've purchased this product multiple times and have never been disappointed. I don't use it for cooking or baking, only for eating just as it is. (LADIES ONLY: I had heard that ginger helps reduce hot flashes. I can't recommend it for others, but it does work for me.) When I open a new package I put it into a colander and shake vigorously to remove excess sugar, then put the ginger in a covered Tupperware to keep it handy on the counter-top. A few pieces twice a day, and I'm a happy lady!

We keep crystallized ginger in a sugar bowl on our table for "dessert" and/or to aid digestion. Although not labeled as such, I'm guessing this ginger is from Thailand, as most of the Australian ginger we've tried is very mild and often flavorless; not so with this one. It is spicy and hot and is what I expect from ginger; I don't have to eat a bunch to know what I'm tasting! I also chop it fine and add it to several recipes, including biscotti. We'll definitely order this again.

I have a tendency toward motion sickness so always have some in my car or handbag. The 11 lb option makes it a more economical purchase. I then re-bag them into sandwich size bags so they're easy to carry around. I have purchased seconds from Ginger People directly and they were ok. I like the sealed packaging for these. I thought maybe they were smaller than the ones wrapped more in paper but they're the same thing.

(More customer reviews)The Ginger chews by the Ginger People are my favorite candies of all time! These are the Ginger People's pure Ginger candies and they are of excellent quality. They are perfect if you like really spicy candies. These candies are similar to the "See's" brand Crystallized Ginger and I feel that the quality is about the same as "See's". Unlike the See's brand, these do not have a chocolate coating which is good if you don't really like chocolate.
I love the spicy, chewy flavor. It's so hard to find delicious Ginger foods and candies (except online) and I'm so happy that Amazon started carrying these products by the Ginger people.
These are great for nausea, too.
Great for travel sickness, great for morning sickness, and just great taste when you want a really spicy candy. I love them! The pilots use them.
Recommended! But if you don't want something SO spicy, I recommend that you start out with the Ginger People ginger chews first. If you like these, you can graduate up to the Crystallized ginger.

(More customer reviews)I saw three cans of this in T.J. Maxx. On a whim I bought two of the cans. I haven't eaten this since I was a child under 8.
Therefore, I couldn't remember the taste. But when I opened the can and started eating, it is heavenly. I went back to the store to get some more, but of course they had none. Luckily I found the same brand at Amazon.com. I don't know about other brands, but I sure can recommend this one. It is a treat!not to be overlooked.
