So I picked up a Nestle Crunch Crisp bar at the grocery store to try out, and it's okay. It's startlingly similar to a KitKat, only this Nestle Crunch Crisp doesn't use real milk chocolate for the coating (it's what we like to call mockolate) and the filling in this Crisp bar is more of a dark chocolate flavored filling I think, without really being dark chocolate.
I didn't like this Crunch Crisp bar. It does get stars for when you bite into it, it's got that wafer light crispness down pat, it promises to be awesome. The next sensation I get is sweetness (this is a good thing), but that quickly disappears and then it goes into this *powdery* chocolate taste. Don't ask me how chocolate *tastes* powdery, but this Crunch Crisp bar manages to have its chocolate *taste* powdery in addition to the powdery texture it dissolves into. I ate half the bar to be sure that I didn't like it (first impressions and all that), and then threw away the last half. It wasn't that good for me to be using up my valuable fat & calorie intake quotas with powdery chocolate taste.
In short, it tries to be a KitKat, but Nestle already has a KitKat in multiple varieties. Crunch Crisp doesn't have the same quality of chocolate, and I think that's where it falls short. I'd likely buy Crunch Crisp again if they changed their mockolate to real milk chocolate, but then it wouldn't be a Crunch Crisp bar, it'd be a KitKat.
