In addition to normal common sense ideas to keep from getting sick, these seem to help keep a scratchy throat from getting worse, much more than just taking vitamin C. They have a full daily level of vitamin C, but because they are in a hard candy form they coat your throat with vitamin C for a longer period of time. I think of it as gargling with salt water but more convenient and tastier. Studies have shown the salt water gargle knocks down the level of bacteria giving the body's own immune system a chance (I suspect salty chicken soup does the same). Each stick contains individually wrapped lemon, orange, and grapefruit flavors. They are sugar sweetened. They are pretty tasty and do Not taste like cough drops. Once the stick is open and if in a humid climate the wrappers can be difficult to remove after a week. They also make a sugarless version available in a bag.
