This is good, but other brands are better.
Torrone is the italian way of making nougat. This torrone is the hazelnut one in the usual white paste (honey, sugar and something else that I don't remember). This particular torrone is the "morbido" version, by now prevalent. "Morbido" meas "soft". Actually, in this product a lot of the white paste is softer even for the morbido type; it is almost fluid.
This particular product is a variation of torrone, quite popular in Piedmont during Winter Vacations. Is a variation because it has other things besides torrone itself. This particular brand has 2 layers: 1 torrone layer and 1 layer of rum chocolate (it is rum chocolate paste; it is not chocolate filled with rum liquor). The whole thing is covered with dark chocolate. The dark chocolate is very, very thick below constituting a 3rd layer. On top and to the side the chocolate it thinner: just a cover to keep the hole thing together.
The rum flavor is strong (in a good sense) and the hazelnut is strong too, but could/should be stronger.
By now I got so snotty with chocolate that I can see how the chocolate could be better (both the chocolate in chocolate-rum paste) and the chocolate in the covering. Anyway, as a whole this torrone al rhum e cioccolato is quite good, and until I can find the brand I was used to in Italy I'll keep on buying it.

"Divine" is the only way to describe this chocolate-covered rum torrone. What do you get when you take a bar of Davide Barbero's crunchy hazelnut torrone, slather rich rum paste on top and cover with thick layer of dark chocolate? Pure decadence. If only you could smell the intoxicating aroma of chocolate and rum through your monitor! This beautiful red- and gold-wrapped epicurean delight makes a fitting holiday gift for just about anyone who loves food -- including yourself.
